French Connection Hello

French Connection Hello is a British fashion brand established in 1977. The brand designs, produces and distributes branded fashion clothing and accessories for men, women and children. The company also offers homeware products through its You Must Create (YMC) brand and sells a small number of its products on-line. The company operates stores, online and through wholesale channels.

The company is currently in the process of turning around its fortunes after reporting pre-tax losses for the past two years. Founder Wayne Marks blamed the company's problems on "the most difficult winter season." Despite the company's recent decision to close 14 of its UK stores, Marks remains determined to save the business. He is selling off his loss-making Nicole Farhi label and recently re-launched the homeware collection.

Marks is a master of shock The  french connection keep in touch tactics. His 'Hello Boys' campaign featuring Eva Herzigova in a bust-enhancing bra was projected on to Battersea power station and was a marketing phenomenon. His FCUK branding tapped into the logo-laden zeitgeist of the Nineties. Simple T-shirts emblazoned with the arresting acronym were perfect for pairing with combat pants and a girl-power pout or the requisite parka and scowl depending on your gender.

William Friedkin's 1971 film of the same name is a grimy, gritty and obsessive crime thriller. Starring Gene Hackman and Roy Scheider as NYPD narcotics detectives Jimmy "Popeye" Doyle and Buddy "Cloudy" Russo, the film is based on a true story. Its most famous scene is the famed car chase sequence, filmed without permits in real city traffic and shot in grippingly realistic documentary style. It's a piece of filmmaking that has earned the reputation of being one of the greatest ever made.
