It is not how you feel about the lesson that matters.


Each lesson in the a course in miracles workbook is designed to train your mind to a different perception of everything you see. It is important to do these exercises daily, preferably several times a day. It is also helpful to practice them in every place you spend any time and in as many situations as possible. This helps you to generalize the lessons, so that you understand they are as applicable to one situation as they are to another.

This is an entirely new concept for most people, and it is likely to be very difficult at first. The first eleven lessons of the course are simple statements of logic that a reader will have varying degrees of acceptance or resistance to. You will likely feel some of these ideas and concepts as completely natural or totally absurd. How you feel is not important in this case, as long as you are willing to give it some consideration.

Apply this idea to everything you see, starting with the things near you and extending outward in all directions. Be indiscriminate in your selection of subjects, and avoid the tendency to select objects by size, brightness, color or relative importance to you. Try to glance easily and fairly quickly, so as not to strain.
